What is the global 500 ranking based on?

I'm a single founder who recently founded a location-based events startup and acquired a pre-seed investment of $500,000. To ensure that I can take my app where it needs to be until I've secured another round of funding, how and/or what should the $500,000 be spent on?

    Run a hackathon and market it to those people in your area who specialize in marketing, events and programming, create teams and get them started on events based projects. When it is done you should hire the team(s) with the best project. This is basically a job fair without all those fancy booths.
