What kind of candidates tend to get entry-level GIS jobs at your office?
-
Any candidates with non-geography or non-computer science undergrad degrees, but with online GIS graduate certificates or Masters?
-
Answer:
I can't speak for all of DigitalGlobe but we hire people without a bachelors in geo or CS for our group all of the time. Its not about the formal education, its about your skills and potential. Every candidate should have a project (website, report, app) that they are proud of and that they can showcase. Even if it is not perfect, we can still talk about how it was built and what was learned in the process. This also shows that the candidate is passionate about their work. Initiative and drive are the strongest things a candidate can bring. If you only do it because your boss or professor tells you to do it then you are probably not that into it.
