Can I take a biotechnology minor with an Electrical Engineering major?

I am pursuing biotechnology as a bachelor's and want to take up research in biomedical engineering for a career. What should I do? Do schools accept and support such transitions?

  • Answer:

Transitions are the norm of the day and the immediate future...this statement stands greatly justified especially in terms of everything that deals with the field of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology. There are probably not many other fields as interdisciplinary as ours! Especially in terms of higher education in this field - in countries like the USA,UK, Germany etc. - the Universities greatly prefer students from diverse backgrounds !! I myself know a person who has done his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engg. and is now pursuing his Masters in Public Health at MIT. So in short there is nothing much to worry for a person looking to make a switch from Biotech to Biomedical Engg. Discipline switches are the anthems of our academic prowess, so all that you need to worry about is conquering your present field of study! For the future will then come beckoning to you!
