  There are many things which make search engines different. If you are in South Korea, Naver has a "walled garden" and as a result, its search engine returns a lot of useful stuff not available in any other search engine. Google's ability to return superior video results from You Tube is somewhat similar. In China and Russia, Baidu and Yandex respectively have the highest market share, and this probably has something to do with attention to local results in the local language. Google has teams working on both markets, but so far they aren't winning. In the rest of the world, there are a few reasons why you might find a particular search engine to be interesting: A category that you frequently search is spammed up in one search engine but not another. As an example, many health queries are spammed up in most search engines, but blekko is pretty good at getting rid of that spam. Some search engines can generate results that other search engines can't. One example is Google's very large crawl: sometimes, that can dig up an obscure result that isn't available in search engines with a small crawl.
