How do I get people to find my open product manager position and apply for it?

  • So we have a page on our site for open positions in San Francisco... http://www.landandfarm.com/about/careers Our recruiters do their best on job sites, and I post all over social media to try and get people talking about it, but still seems like it's hard to get good PM candidates in the door for our open PM rec.   Any other suggestions on where to post?

    Find people from within your and your employees networks. If that fails, post the position where PMs are hanging out online. Expecting them to find you is a losing strategy.

The simplest answer is the posting does have a strong differentiator from the competition. A quick search for product managers and you will find lots of similar postings of businesses who want someone to take a product from start to end. For me it would be cooler if you intended to start a mobile product which would be the next generation of real estate applications. We live in a age where farmers have robotic milk feeders that come with a mobile app for reporting on milk production and if a cow is sick. At this point in the game the trend appears to shifted to mobile and to have a strictly web only portfolio would be problematic. You also have a comprehensive responsibility list and to make that worth the effort a equity stake or a performance based compensation is needed to win over good talent. As for the product manager role in the internet space in general I've noticed a few common threads based on my search over the past few weeks. When it comes to the web industry it's self it appears there is a fair amount of people looking for product managers, not just established companies but investors. Also many people wanting to hire a product manager job have a different definition of what that role is then the people who are hiring. Hence just about every one is going to have a bit of a recruiting speed bump for this role. This has resulted in some companies approaching recruiting with a well though out marketing campaign to get the attention of potential candidates.
