Answer:
Microsoft, any day. I did my summer internship with Microsoft, and then worked as a full time employee for a few months, it is clearly one of the best places to work for in India. Quality of work: My intern project involved tweaking a famous graph algorithm to solve a very difficult finite state machine problem. Never in my college life I had to think so much about implementing something, it was unique, challenging and satisfying. As a full time employee I again worked on a very important project (details best kept secret). And all the friends I had at Microsoft were generally happy with the work they were doing. Innovation: If you think you would enter a software company, and write the next big thing in your first week, you are mistaken. And yet, at Microsoft you would be given the freedom to think of new ideas, and challenge the existing ones. You would be rewarded for taking initiative and improving something, anything. But again, I must emphasize, you will almost never be asked to do something innovative, your manager won't walk to your desk and ask you to develop a linear time comparison sorting algorithm, if you want to do something extraordinary, take the initiative to do it. Work life balance: According to the little experience I have of the software industry, I think the work life balance at Microsoft is unmatched. Very rarely would you feel that you are under stress due to work, and you can easily manage your life with work. I remember what an HR at Microsoft said when she was asked what is the best thing about the company, "I have been here for a long time, and I have gone through so many phases of my life. I got married, and I had children and what not. If there is one thing I can say about Microsoft, it is that, the company cares".

This really depends on how passionate about work you are,and at what post will you be joining. If you are a fresher, and eventually want to work for elite class(Google,FB,Apple),go for AMAZON.People there are generally smarter, and more talented. They also pay more than other companies you mentioned.Elsewise,if you are happy with what you have acheived,MICROSOFT would be a good choice. If you are having a family or looking to settle, go for Microsoft. They have relaxed work-life balance. Oracle,Yahoo!,GS are below both of these in any respect,as far as I have heard.

I did an internship at MS - Hyd and worked at Amazon for more than a year. Hence the information about these two is first hand. I have some friends at Goldman Sachs and Oracle and hence can give you second hand information on them (so please take it with a pinch of salt!). Microsoft The best (on par with Google) in terms of work-life balance. It is a super amazing campus with inbuilt gym (with shower rooms!), playgrounds etc. Most of the employees are fun and most teams indulge in jolly activities and outings regularly. So you will feel pampered. The work used to be very chilled as well until recently and now there is greater urgency and slightly higher work load due to a shift to a service based system for most teams. But IMHO the work hours is still average and I also found that the majority of the problems that you will be working on will be not that exciting. The only problem is that most of the work is on the C#-.NET-Windows stack, which I found to be comparatively useless outside of MS. Since the rest of the industry sees Java/C++ with Linux as a major stack. Amazon Second best (behind Google) in terms of quantity and quality of work. Most of Amazon's offices are like rat dens with lesser amenities than TCS's offices. Bangalore's WTC office is pretty decent and best Amazon office in India. The work-life , (actually just work there is no life if you are a Amazonian) is like a rat-race. If you do a good job working all the 8*40 hours per week you will still be categorized as an 'average'. On the other hand you get to work on cool technologies and the amount of experience/year is very high. You will also get to meet many awesome programmers (though not the most fun) who will rather work than go downstairs for a drink! Oracle Least amount of work and the work is not that great. So you can join this if you want to draw an easy salary while you have plenty of time preparing for higher studies. Goldman Sachs Interesting work, they only higher superstars (not just programmers but the personality and intellect as well). The work is pretty decent and a very professional environment.
