Balboa beach on fourth of July?

Is it worth to join the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach?

• I heard it was very well recognized in John Wyane time but now the new owner even just changed the name to Balboa Bay Resort and no club so it sounds like a facility inside a resort rather than a standalone social club. Any advice?

  I would say yes overall. But it really depends on (but not limited to): 1. What you are trying to get out of it 2. How often you will attend 3. Your distance to the club 4. How charismatic you are 5. What you bring to the table 6. Your family 7. Age 8. Ethnicity (let's be honest) I was a member of another private club in Orange County that I won't mention here. The business that was offered to me, far exceeded what I paid in membership. In theory if you are in a private club, you can afford the membership without hesitation. This answer is from a more general perspective and not as a current member of the Balboa Bay Club. I looked up monthly dues to Balboa Bay Club. They are $335 which is affordable if you are the target audience. And you are allowed to bring in guests. Which is great especially if you have children. Or are entertaining guests from out of town. Even rounding up to $400/month that brings you to no more than $4,800 per year. Most people that live here in Newport are making six figures. And Orange County is called "The Orange Curtain" because people do not really travel out of here because of different values and close social circles which is more evident the higher up the social echelon. But again, I have to remind you that the value that you get will reflect the value that you put in. So be a connector, make referrals, share resources, etc. And it should come back and far exceed the monthly fee.
