Who gets the tip you leave housekeeping at a hotel?
-
Is it whoever cleans your room that day? What happens if the person cleaning your room all week is off the day you check-out? What happens if different people come in to do your turn-down service? Is there any way to make sure your housekeeper gets your tip?
-
Answer:
According to a friend who works at a hotel, the tip goes to the person who cleans your room the day you leave the tip. It is not split among the housekeepers. And it seems that housekeepers are generally assigned floors or sets of rooms, so unless the house keeper that has been servicing your room is out, she will most likely be the one to get the tip the day you check out. If you are worried that the wrong person might get the tip, you can always leave a note, or just give the tip at the front desk and specify that you want it to go to the person who has been servicing your room.
