Is there any open-source antivirus for Android?

Why is Android market a closed market, when its main source Android OS is made in the lines of open software ?

  • This is follow up of Considering Android operating system is open, isn't the android ecology be built to support openness ? Shouldn't  the android market be open source? Isn't it like the house is free, but pay rent for the road ?

  • Answer:

The Android Market App belongs to Google. You are always free to install any market you believe to be more "Open". Google choose to co-exist proprietary software of their own, on top of free software (Android). This is how everyone else who makes apps for Android operates. Google also uses the Android Market to live the dream of making money off open source software. ( There is nothing wrong with this as they put effort in to contributing back, like Redhat, Conical, Novel (ish) ) This goes back to Completely Free Software VS Co-exist Free and Propitiatory

Other answers

There are a lot of people who completely fail to grasp the difference between Android and "Android with Google". Android on its own doesn't have an ounce of Google-branded stuff in it.
