Which university is better in terms of software jobs after an MS in software engineering: Arizona State University or NYU's Polytechnic School of Engineering?

I am assuming that you have got admit in Master program.The biggest misconception about ASU is : it is near to California so it has great chances for software job. No most of the companies of bay areas don't come to ASU. The biggest recruiter of software engineers from ASU is Amazon. Amazon is giving interview call to almost everyone for internship as well as Full time position in ASU.Though Intel is very near to ASU, Intel,chandler office is not hiring much international students for full time position. It completely depends on whether team at Intel want to sponsor you or not. Thought Intel is giving good number of internship opportunities. Intel starts to give internship call after mid march, till then almost every big companies has filled up the intern positions for summer. Paypal and Microsoft conducts on campus interview, but number of students getting final offer is comparatively low.eBay , GoDaddy, Mathworks,Choice hotels and American Express also gives interview call, but conversation ratio is still limited. This year, Google has started to give call for internship and full time. Though not heard that anyone got offer from Google till now. Most of the students at ASU finds full time job or internship by themselves by applying online or by getting connected with recruiters of respective company.

The specific university program isn't super important as long as its credible.  Go to the university that suits your personal learning style and also has side interests for you.  It's probably more important to get the tangential experience like clubs, sports, culture and other students, because at some level software engineering is just software engineering, and you're going to get out of your education what you put into it, regardless of which campus the classroom happens to be located.It's probably more important to participate in the software development community.  Hiring companies value internships, collegiate work, open source work and side projects more than what you did in your degree program.Also, you shouldn't start saying you want to work for (list of brand name companies).  Whether or not they're hiring and choose to hire you, they're still not the best for everyone, or even most people.  Some people might do better at a big bank or defense contractors, while others might thrive, and be much happier, and smaller (or very small) outfits.  If you only target Google with stars in your eyes, you might be unnecessarily limiting your options.
