How can public relations agencies improve SEO for their own agency and brand?
-
I know there's more to SEO than just placing keywords in your website's HTML. What are some other strategies that PR agencies (specifically B2B PR agencies) may be overlooking when attempting to increase SEO for their own agency. *Note: I'm asking what PR agencies can do for their own SEO, not for their clients' SEO.

Answer:
My PR firm consistently ranks in the top few results among PR firms in Dallas (and certain B2B industries) simply because we post ever press release to our site: http://www.coopersmithagency.com. I've been doing this since day one and don't really do much else. I'm told by my friends in the SEO world that consistently posting content to a site is the absolute best thing that one can do to drive better rankings.

Content, stratgic use of social media, and press releases. There is a great post by an acquaintance of mine, Jeff Larche. He is the owner of the blog Digital Solid and just did a post last month called "make your press releases behave more like blog posts." Its the perfect post for PR in combination with blogging and SEO.

There are very few touch points where our activity doesn't actually have some SEO impact. Trying to game it can often be self defeating, but the real key is simply to learn about what genuinely matters, how to find up to date information, and becoming 'SEO aware' - we really don't need to become 'geeks', but knowing a good SEO to help out is very rewarding!
