Is there a blog search engine better than Google?

Google Blog search used to be a fantastic way to avoid media and marketing blather and discover authentic authors in the blogosphere. Of late, Google Blog search has been littered with article ezine, content farm, blogspot, and adsense heavy sites; it's almost completely lost it's value. Is there an alternative? A search engine that discovers only blog content with an algorithm smart enough to weed out link spam, ad heavy sites, and Google's favorites?
