Would grocery store chains be willing to publicize supply inventories and prices?

There are many tools for people to track bank account balances, compare prices for most goods online. There are no easy ways for one to compare prices of groceries between local competing chains.

Walmart uk(ASDA) does something similar : It compares it's offline prices with the offline prices of 4 other competitors. It's somewhat sneaky , but still it's a way to pressure the other chains to publish their offline prices.
