Why are there no good connecting flights at night from Mumbai to Pune for international travelers?

• Most international flights from Europe and Asia land in Mumbai at around mid-night. A large percentage of travelers have Pune as their final destination. Yet flights to Pune are not until almost after 7 or 8 am in the morning. I am sure if there were good connections to Pune a lot of travelers would choose that option instead of driving to Pune through the night. Seems like local airlines could partner with some of the international airlines to create good connections.

  Probably because no one travels from Pune to Mumbai and vice-versa by flights. The expressway so well constructed, it takes only three and a half hours to reach from Mumbai to Pune. There are deluxe AC buses available every half-hour and they are way cheaper than airlines. Plus, buses drop you off at prime places in the city, whereas airport is not in the centre. You will need, pick-up and drops. Additionally, the time to board a flight and de-board it is already a big hassle and takes up time because of the security check etc. You can't just board it like a bus. Overall time spent is same and the people are inconvenienced. Thus less demand and less supply.
