Let's say that you've built a product, where your customers would be SEOs and internet marketers. Your product has competition. However, your product is superior to that of competitors, both in price in quality. So if you can get your product in front of SEOs and internet marketers, you believe you will convert customers. However, you can't rank your product, because your competitors currently have much better SEO than you. How would you get your product in front of SEOs and internet marketers?

Go to local events for SEOs and internet marketers. I can pretty much guarantee there are some out there. Also, guest post on sites like SEOMOZ. Don't promote your product - just write a good post. You'll get a ton of attention from that, which you should be able to turn into some early customers. Finally, contact the top SEO bloggers and ask if they'll take the product for a test drive. Generally they're pretty interested.

If you do not go for the content marketing option, nor the networking events one, then track your target, get familar with what marketers do online (varies depending on whether we're talking about rookies of seniors - make sure you target the right ones) If you have money, a spot at a good networking event or convention usually pays off - as long as your product is good.
