What does a TSA agent to? How much do they make?

Does the TSA Secure Flight program apply to flights booked through a US agent, but which do not involve a US airline and do not start/end in the US or fly over it?

  • I am trying to book a flight within Europe through a US travel agent, which insists on collecting the data required the the TSA Secure Flight program. As far as I can tell from the TSA's website (http://www.tsa.gov/stakeholders/secure-flight-program), the program should not apply to my case: "The mission of the Secure Flight program is to strengthen the security of commercial air travel into, out of, within, and over the United States".

  • Answer:

I wonder if your flight is going to Spain.  Ever since the Madrid train bombing, Spain has required similiar advance information for flights incoming, as the TSA require for the USA. Alternately your agency might have a policy of inputting TSA information for every flight, a better safe than sorry policy. After all you'd be pretty pissed off if you had a problem at the airport.
