How to get a career in civil service?

I am in my final year of engineering and I had a year back thrice. How tough will it be for me to get a job? What would be the best career field I can easily get into as a fresher?

  • I would need a career advice on which profile I can easily get into as fresher , considering my performance in engineering and the back logs. Whether a java developer or a network/database admin or a process (itil-service mgmt) or informatica or any other profile could get me a fresher job easily? I am in a dilemma to choose my career after engineering. Please suggest me a path considering my history and how the openings are there outside for freshers. How does the eligibility criteria will stop me in getting the jobs. I am hoping for a good career advice , expecting some good answers which could help me in planning my future.

  • Answer:

You have already made it tough for you. So I would suggest you the tougher path where nobody neglects the real talent. You can choose to learn system programming , develop something in Linux Kernel. Nobody in the market, will be able to deny that talent, if you are really good at core computer Science and Kernel Programming. Best of Luck!

Dude, I had the same problem as u. I took admission for Bteck (IT) but i was not at all serious about my studies. I had year back thrice and with time i became shameless, but then i realized about my growing age and got depressed, But i didnt gave up, i prepared for GATE but couldn't qualify it, then i prepared for IELTS and got admission on UCL (U.K) and i completed MS (Computer science) on 2013, i wasn't having sponsorship or placement from any company and i was 25 already and thus i have to return back to India, I was broken but the thing was i wanted to do something. I went to my coaching classes again where i prepared GATE and prepared for subjects just as to make command on my subjects and parallel i was lining up some walkin interviews too, i gave 7 interviews in all types of big small MNC's for then was finally placed at IBM as Programming analyst with a handsome package. So i mean to say that it doesn't matter if we have backs, if your stream u have chosen have made u depressed and frustrated, then just fight with it. Just have command on core subjects what so ever stream u have. And if possible do certification of latest technology regarding your stream, Those MNC's , all they need is skill not our degree, Degree is just to get eligible with 60% . LOL (I know all this what i told you seems so stupid, as i went for MS and wasted money and all, but the fact is we were not so serious when others were studying). All the best
