Where To Get Online Data Mining Work?

How does one with a M.Sc statistics degree in UK get into data-mining sector? What extra skills does one need to pick up (in terms of programming and maths)?

  • Currently studying Economics, and I have just received an offer to do MSc Statistics at Imperial College. If I want to get into the data-mining industry in the States, what do I need to do?? Any particular programming +math skills I need to learn ???

    In regards to skills, I would suggest browsing the below answers first. I would take Machine Learning and Bayesian Statistics as electives (although, make sure to follow your interests first) In regards to getting into the sector, the fact of the matter is, an MS in stats almost guarantees you a data  mining job in today's market, especially if you are willing to travel.
