How to make a portfolio?

How can I make a portfolio to enter interactive art schools?

• After I posted last question I  Maker Faire Tokyo 2014, and my paper was accepted to INTERACTION2014(academic conference). I still want to study interactive art. I need to brush up my skills of making interactive works. Arduino, openFrameworks etc. So I checked art schools web site such as NYU ITP. They need a portfolio. How can I make a portfolio? I don’t have much experience about interactive art, but I am needed to submit portfolio of my works. how can I solve this problem? any suggestion?

  I am not sure if your question here is "How do I create content for my portfolio?" or "How do I present my portfolio?". If it's the first one - create pretend projects! Use a Random Word Generator online and challenge yourself. For example, I just got the two words "Ballerina Drop" from a random-word website. I can imagine tons of ways to create interactive art with those two. The sky is the limit. If it's the latter, and you are into web design/development - create a unique experience, since we are talking about Interactive Art. If not, use services that are created for those purposes, like Squarespace, and make the content (your projects) speak instead.
