What companies are the most in-demand for college students in your area?

• I'm launching a startup to help college kids get entry-level jobs at highly-sought companies, but I only know the big companies around my area (SF). For example, I live in the Bay Area and Google/Facebook probably hire the most college students + are the most sought out. However, I know in Michigan companies like Pfizer are more popular, or in Seattle, everyone wants to work at Microsoft. What city do you live in and what companies are the hottest in you area?  Any other advice on how to help my startup get off the ground would be great. We're looking to contact some people from these companies.

  One of the best ways for college students to get quality jobs is to first intern for companies while they are still in college. My advice is to look for companies that offer summer internships so that college students can get a foot in the door earlier. I live in San Jose and I know that eBay here has a lot of interns (and probably has entry-level positions as well). Any work experience in general is really important for securing entry-level jobs after graduating. Even volunteering at a non-profit organization like the http://www.ctnbayarea.org is a good opportunity. In fact, non-profits like these have work-force development programs where they funnel volunteers into paid positions at different companies. Finally, although we're not as big as eBay, at Got it we contract college students in the bay area to work part-time as personal technology trainers, and offer our most talented and hardworking trainers career opportunities for post-graduation.
