Recently, I was going through a list of Engg. colleges and there lies a word, after the name of college, "for women". WOW, It really made me think how's the campus life there? Does India really need these types of colleges now?

Actually I h've seen my some of the friends reading novels like 'Fifty Shades of Grey' , 'Oh shit! Not Again' etc. etc. and they still believe in going to women's college rather than Co-ed ones. Have you ever heard 'Blah-Balh college "for Boys" ? If it ever existed probably it would be preferred by Gay ones. So, why there are different colleges for women? Please you girls stop preferring that, co-ed ones are getting boring and boring.! Update - 1. I saw a good number of cute girls in "for women" colleges. My heart melted and made me to ask for their views on quora. Update - 2. Hope these colleges too converted into co-ed ones so that girls who made this mistake would not cost them their precious 4 years Engg. getting not that much opportunities. P.S. Sounds like Irrelevant, spam and not socially 'good' type of question? OK. I;m anonymous , you are anonymous. Bring it on(for those who think). otherwise it's good if you share your views. :'P (Sorrry for the awful language skills. but you should have got the central idea which i want to convey/to ask for.)

Answer:
Uuuhhh.. thanks for A2A.. I'll try my best to answer though I didn't really understand ur question.. I went to a co-ed school and go to a college "for women" now so I am pretty familiar with both the environments.. Honestly.. why do people think that girls in a girls college are missing on opportunities or are less capable than people studying in co-eds.. ?! Anyway.. yes.. India still needs these colleges.. My father let out a sigh of relief when finally my admission to this college got confirmed. . Because of the safe yet GOOD and PRODUCTIVE environment.. girls in a women college tend to learn more.. we here do every sort of work done in a co-ed engineering college and are not losing on anything.. Boys? Well girls do get attention even in a women college.. we have many guy friends and we are not desperate.. :p So the environment here is safe for any girl.. with all the scope of development.. And there still are families who don't send girls to co-ed environment.. for them these colleges are like a lifeline.. PS - I also read novels like those you mentioned and still love being in a girls college..:D

In Russia there are a few Orrthodoxal boys-only colleges cuz I hope u understand why they are boys-only. Luckily I've never heard about any other boys-colleges in Russia. Seeing girls in a college every day, so beautiful..what could be better?

Hmmm... Thanks for A2A, Mr. Anonymous.... I didn't quite get what you expected to answer but anyway.. There is a need of those colleges in today's world also. You might say that they are being deprived of the exposure to a multi gender environment and might face trouble when tomorrow are teamed up with a guy for a project and stuff... While that may be true, quite a good number of people think that the transition from teenage to professional world should be quite gradual and thus look out for women's colleges. Parents feel a sigh of relief as said...

For all you people who answered the question and to the poser, if we go less trivial and less vague in answering, I go like this initially... As u mentioned Engineering Colleges for Women, they might make relatively less contribution to the Pioneering Industries and Research , as women have been constantly proven (not digestable by women though) to have less Logical Ability and less Depth of thinking which are essential for Engineering , science and technology to excel. By this, I mean to say girls generally only aesthetically strong mentalities when glutted together makes a forcefully inquisitive environment when it comes to Engg., thus even the logically strong girls won't get the right exposure and zeal for science and thinking from their artistically oriented lot, who otherwise might shine when exposed to Co-ed top class Engg. Institutions like IITS, NITS, BITS etc. I agree with some facts that they are secure enough and also won't affect girls from being uncomfortable with boys (because girls learn the tricks to get importance early enough :P) . Safety is the only point India needs it, those colleges are too minuscule when actually asked for development to India. Another fact, Indian colleges like IITS and NITS badly need girls for their own benefit , and also for the boys to be less sheepish and behaving clumsy dealing with girls thereafter. Thus, such intelligent girls should never lose their precious vacancies in such colleges where they can learn both technically and tactically using Boys :P. PS: When it comes to us ( boys ), we always need CO-Ed for mutual benefits :P. When it comes to India, we need a few reserved seats and colleges, only till the point women incidents are still inevitable on a larger scale.
