How good is Sapient for freshers?

What sort of training is provide by Sapient to freshers hired as Trainee Technology?

  • Answer:

The training is divided in two parts : TRM (trading and risk management) :  TRM training involves basic concept of corporate finance, trading and investment banking. This is generally conducted by some external vendor and really one of the best training. If you are looking for CFA certification this will help you a lot. Technical training: Technical training consists the programming part. Not everyone get to learn the same language and  it depends on the current requirements of company.I have joined last year as a fresher and we were 40-50 people which were divided into four batches java, .NET, Endur and Javascript. So if you are looking to learn some specific language you may be disappointed but if you have no previous background in programming it will be a good learning experience.

I underwent Sapient's training program in the first quarter of 2013. Back then, the training program was divided into two primary parts: TRM (Trade and Risk Management): This part focused on the business side of the firm, and aimed at training the freshers in the finance and energy domain. The areas that this part covered include basic concepts of finance, such as profit and loss, trade life cycle, asset management (mutual funds and hedge funds), working of stock exchange etc. Technology: Since I was hired for Java development, the technology part focused on Java concepts (basic and advanced), frameworks such as Hibernate, Spring, Struts, JMS etc. and tools such as SVN, Eclipse etc. One thing that I would like to stress upon is that the content quality was exceptionally good and so was the tutoring. The program made sure that the topics were covered in detail and the learning was great. This is one area (among others) where Sapient exceeds expectations.

During 2006-2009 when i was there Sapient had SapeStart programme of 1 week which includes orientation for the new folks followed by 3-4 weeks of training on .net, Java, sql, TRM, etc. After this you are put into a 3-4 months of a dummy project in Java or .net. On completion of this you are staffed in a live project or put on bench.
