What is hiring policies?

What are the regulations the GOP says hurt job creation? What specific policies did Obama put in place that caused industry to hold back hiring?

  • This is the claim but there is never any discussion on "specifics".

  • Answer:

There are a number of Obama’s policies that hurt employment. Health Care: According to many estimates, Obamacare slowed the growth of health care spending by about half a percentage point: about $13 Billion a year, or more than $40 Billion by this year. Since consumers aren’t spending this money for healthcare, it reduces the number of people employed there.    - Also the EPA regulations on greenhouse gas emissions. For example, the Mercury and Air Toxics act is estimated to prevent consumers from spending an extra $64 Billion. That’s perhaps a million jobs in the healthcare and death industries that we’d have if it weren’t for Obama. Death Industry. Obamacare’s expansion of Medicaid is also a big problem in that it keeps people from dying and so decreases employment among undertakers and caterers. The states that haven’t opted in for Medicaid see an extra 10,000 deaths a year. I am sure the death industries in those states salute them. Opposition to the Keystone pipeline. The State Department says that this would create 35 permanent jobs. Obama’s failure to approve it is a severe blow to the economy. The Stimulus. Much of the stimulus, something like 1/3, went into tax cuts, which provide fewer jobs than the money spent on them. Obama’s failure to spend this money on productive uses cost the economy jobs at a time it desperately needed them.
