Is it bad to only sign some of a domain's emails with DKIM?

How can I prevent spammers to use my domain name as the sender in spam emails?

  • I have already set successfully DKIM and SPF records to my domain but the emails keep coming back when antiviruses and email blockers bounce spam emails back to my domain.

  • Answer:

You can't prevent it but you can protect yourself by setting up SPF and DKIM records that provide authentication.  Most hosting providers give you the option to add the TXT records and/or SPF records to turn this authentication on.  Spammers will shy away from sending from these domains as they will not be able to pass the authentication and their emails won't get to where they want. How do you know you've made it?!?  Spammers spoof your domain!  :) WIth your SPF record, you could update to make the suffix either "~all" or even better, "-all".  However, you need to be absssssolutely sure that all the emails you send originate from the domains listed in your SPF record. Also, fight back by reporting the IPs used by the spammers.  http://Spamcop.net has a service to report IPs churning out spam, and you have all the IPs from the bounce back autoresponses. Getting those IPs blacklisted forces the spammers to continue to iterate and waste a bunch of time. We also can pray to higher beings that karma will be served and spammers will have to read every single email they ever sent before going through the pearly gates.
