How do I decide between taking a Google job and going for a PhD?

• I am from one of the old IITs with a good CGPA. What are the pros and cons of taking up a google job over going for a Phd. What kind of work do they do at Google? Will it give me the satisfaction of research or will it be more implementation than theory? How is the career growth in Google? Will a Phd restrict me anywhere later? How does doing a Phd and taking up a Software engg job at google now, compare in terms of pay? Can I enter google research labs without a Phd? Will not getting a Phd hurt me later?

  Thank you for the question. Ideally, a person looking forward for a PhD looks forward to carve his/her way in said/decided area. Google on the other hand is one of the best places to work on earth. So, the choice should be made on your will to let go the autonomy and independence you will have until or even after completion of PhD or will to enjoy being working for one of the world's best.
