Remote start systems?

How often do alarm systems that start video recording when set off result in capture and conviction of the burglar?

• I have heard of systems that capture video but do not know if burglars are now aware of these systems and now use masks to nullify their effectiveness.  Adding the video capture ups the cost of the system but if it results in the thief being caught it would seem to be worth it.

  It really depends on a lot of factors - the quality of the cameras, how well they're positioned, how well they're installed, etc.  It also depends on how stupid the criminal is - we had one guy break into a number of vehicles in an underground parking lot, wearing a ball cap and a hoodie, and still caught him easily because he paused when he entered the parkade and LOOKED DIRECTLY INTO ONE OF THE CAMERAS.
