Why is google's search market share so high?
-
Search market share is approximately: google 65% vs bing powered 30% But we also know that people very rarely change their default search engine on their browsers and browser market share is approximately: chrome and firefox 45% vs Internet Explorer 50% Which would imply that if people search the same amount no matter which browser you would expect market share to be approx equal. So why is google's search volume so much higher than bing's? Can the entire difference be explained by people going to http://www.google.com to 'google' things?

Answer:
Perhaps you should Google the answer. In other words, Google is a part of our collective vocabulary now and as such is the first and sometimes the only place people look when they are looking for information, goods or services. How many people do you know that Bing, have an answer. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/google http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/google Note: Google took a big hit in China though, so Bing might have a edge there. Perhaps Microsoft should change the name of it's search engine yet again to make it more recognizable to the China market, perhaps it should be "Qing", and they could have a tablet computer made in China called the "I Qing".

Google overall just does things better than the rest and includes lots of free quality tie-ins to its other services like the Google Chrome browser, Gmail, YouTube, Android, etc. Unlike most other search engines, it has earned an overall unshakable reputation for balance, quality, and speed. Google was chosen as the centerpiece for the http://www.gooplusplus.com/ multi-search site even though there are dozens of other general and specialized search engines that will, at times, be more useful.

Simple reason is user friendly, search result relevance and user experience. Try Adwords and Bing AdCenter you will understand the difference in the user experience, data aggregation and analysis. Organic Search to a large extent depends on user experience only.
