How can I download all photos in my Flickr sets to iPhoto?
-
This is a follow-up question to . It's pretty frustrating that Apple added support for sending photos from iPhoto to http://Flickr.com in the latest update but not the other way around. I've found an application called Bulkr in the Flickr App Garden that works to download photos but to the Finder and then I would have to manually add the folders to iPhoto by dragging and dropping them. Not a major chore but something I'd rather have automated. This problem is further exacerbated by the fact that Bulkr does not download videos.

Answer:
Actually, you can sync your albums with iPhoto '11 (v 9.1.1) - once you set up your flickr account in iPhoto, it will download all album-covers and once you open an album, it starts syncing all the photos inside. Doesn't respect geo-tags or other tags though...

Have you considered looking at Automator, the built-in workflow automation system that comes with Mac OSX? One of the options in the Photo library is "Import Files into iPhoto". Simply pipe the files you downloaded through that and it should hopefully automate this step sufficiently.

I just used Bulkr to download all the photos. It's really good. It even downloads in sets so you can just drag and drop into iphoto without reorganising the information. http://clipyourphotos.com/bulkr . I had to buy the pro version through cause I had 50+ sets. If you only have a few then no biggie. Didn't want to do the iphoto thing just incase the photos were deleted.

Be careful using iPhoto to sync with your flickr account. iPhoto has permission to delete content in your flickr account. I've accidentally deleted about 100+ photos with a simple keystroke. I'd download all the photos I want, transfer them into a seperate iPhoto album, and disconnect flickr from iPhoto. Saves a lot of unnecessary headaches.
