What are my job prospects as an engineer?

What are the job prospects for fresh master's graduates (electronics engineer, Sweden) in Europe?

  • Can u pls tell how shud one groom oneself in 2 yrs of masters to increase his job opportunities?

  • Answer:

After spending close to 6 years in Europe. I would say the job opportunities for electronics engineers are bleak at it's best, especially in Sweden. Also you wouldn't just be an electronics engineer you would try to dive into various other branches such as analog, digital, mixed-signal processing and RF/microwave.  Not that I am discouraging but these are facts. And if you are non- EU you have other set of problems, local language skills(which I think is fair, you got to learn it), work permit and visa headaches. I have personally gone through all these nonsense over multiple times. Delays, delays and delays. Now that I have ranted out. Speaking in terms of job description " Electronics Engineer" specifically companies expect a minimum of 3+ years experience proficient in Board design, VHDL or some sort of RTL coding, PCB design with multi layer design exp. and so on.  A quick LinkedIn search for electronics engineer in Sweden would give you an idea. Companies simply wouldn't want to hire a fresher because they have no time whatsoever to teach you. My suggestion would be to do multiple internships, gain some experience and then may be you have a chance. Even entry level jobs require experience these days. Also as I mentioned before you could also focus on other branches of Electronics. Semiconductor market in Europe is improving now.
