Which are the top institutes for GRE in North India?

What are my chances of getting admission to top MBA institutes of India?

  • My target is colleges present in upto cluster 5 in this list http://www.careerlauncher.com/mba/about_mba/top_b_schools_in_India.html what should be my percentile in CAT to easily secure admission in any one of those? I did my btech from a C grade college affiliated to A grade university. I have scored 68%. I have done a couple of internships but no job experience as i will be graduating this august. if i score good CAT score, is there any chance of getting admit as they have a point system in which they give weightage to previous academics too? i have scored 82.4% in 10th and 81.4% in 12th standard. Also what other good colleges are there where i can get admit and what are the eligibility criteria for the same?

  • Answer:

Basically you would need an undergrad degree and a good CAT score to get an call letter from IIMs, which are the top management education providing institutes in India. One thing you need to understand is that getting a 99 percentile in CAT need not get you into an IIM. It also depends on the sectional cuts. They are also serious about work experience. Freshers are also given a chance if they prove themselves to be good. A few of my juniors from IIT have got into IIMs. They did have over 8.5 CGPA. If you don't have work experience and don't belong to the under grad premier institutes, the chances are that your initial package offered could be starting from 10LPA, which would be quite lower than your colleagues.  It is not a norm, but the general case unless you have an exceptional profile. They would expect you to have your academics around 80%. Then there is GD and PI. Practice. Practice. Practice. http://insideiim.com/all-you-wanted-to-know-about-shortlisting-criteria-of-top-business-schools-in-india-for-the-class-of-2013-15-cat-based/ One more thing, please please please do not fall just for the institute tag. Enquire about the institute, placements and the like. But more importantly you need to ask yourself what are you actually looking for. I am saying this cos I was always lured by the IIT/IIM tags and once I got into an IIT, I was so disappointed and disillusioned that I eventually dropped out. Wish you luck.
