How do you apply for google jobs?

How should a non-IITian last year B.Tech CS student should apply for job at Google? // submitting resume at Google Jobs doesn't work.

  • I'm last year B.Tech Computer Science student. Many times, I've tried to apply for Google off-campus, but, haven't actually got a response any time, and, even M.Tech at IITs can't help me getting into Google ( Google recruits B.Tech students only ( campus placements ) ), what should I do?

  • Answer:

I will give you few suggestions which actually works - 1. Appear for APAC - https://code.google.com/codejam/apactest If you perform well, you will certainly get a call for interviews. More Links - http://www.letsintern.com/blog/get-a-job-interview-at-google/ http://www.geeksforgeeks.org/toptalent-interview-divanshu-got-google-mountain-view/ Divanshu appeared for APAC. 2. Get referral from someone who is working at Google - You need to have contacts within Google. Getting referred from someone working at Google who can also throw in a recommendation for you can catch the recruiter's attention instantly. I was referred by my friend and I got an interview within a week. Contact the recruiters via linkedin - send them a nice cover letter in mail showing your interest and why you are looking for a job at Google.. Send the resume to me. I can forward it to my friend who is working at Google. I will have to screen your resume before forwarding it to my friend. I will leave the judgement to my friend if he wants to forward the resume to the recruiters. 3. Work on your resume: You should read about how to design your resume. Look at Gayle Lakmaan Mcdowell's resume and her recommendations for designing it. Do some projects which shows your technical knowledge - contribute to open source, participate in code jam, hacker cup, TCO,ACM-ICPC and show the recruiters you are worth getting hired. 4. Brush up your data structures and algorithms - you never know when you will be called for interviews. Who told you Google hires only B.Tech students from campus? CS M.Tech students are allowed to appear in all CS companies placements. In my batch, Google hired around 5 students(excluding PPO) and only 1 was from B.Tech.

Go for projects on Google Summer of Code and Kaggle. If you are able to complete some good projects, then you have a good chance.
