Hello, Thank you for A2A! Let me tell you that I am not a History expert, but I am stalwart of those who study such subjects for I did neither have courage nor a mindset to study them. Since you have, feel honored! Now talking about the prospects for you:- Please Teach History: If you are interested in the subject and more than that, if you enjoy it, please reciprocate your love for the subject by teaching. I have never had a teacher who could make me like it and now when I get to read so much about the past, it seems like a huge loss. We need good teachers! Research: Post this, you could always go for a PhD and get into research of ancient artifacts and sculptures. Or you could get into fossil study and all that. This is again a very interesting and boundless field. Write: History gives you a countless account of wars and debacles. Use them and write fiction. Or you could always give accounts of specific people. I recently studied a book on Chanakya, and boy did I love it! There are innumerable people in the past and you could write about all of them. Study other Subjects: What I think would help you the most is reading other subjects as well. Arts makes you intellectually profuse, but to be able to relate it to the mundane scenarios, you do need an eye for a holistic image. Change the frame: Since you know history better than a lot of people, tell them what actually happened. Or may be another side of something that is a prevalent thought among people. For example, we know how Invaders came to India and spoiled everything. But, somehow I feel there were a lot of positives to that as well. You, my friend, are in a good position to point them out. UPSC: Though I hate to sound banal, but like many other contemporaries of yours, you could thrive to get into Civil Services. You have a sharp edge because of the subject you have studied. Hope I could help. If anything else crosses by, I'll comment again. Best!

These days degree courses are looked down especially if it is social sciences. 1. Graduation with hons in History opens your way to all the jobs with graduation as minimum eligibility criteria such as SSC, UPSC or IBPS/Bank PO. 2. Teaching: If you want to teach at secondary level i.e. class 6th to class 10th, you may go for B. Ed. and if you wish to teach at senior secondary level i.e. 11th and 12th, you would have to do Masters in History. To teach at university level Masters in History with NET is required (many universities prefer M.Phil /PhD) 3. Museum Curator: These are the people who guide you in museums. If you like Museums then you may go for M.A in Museology. 4. Conservationist: This profession came into highlight after Deepika Padukone's Love AajKal. You would have to work for restoration of architecture. To become a conservationist you may opt MA in Conservation. 5. Similar to architecture restoration there is demand of art and painting restoration, if you are inclined towards art then Masters in History of Art is recommended. Art historians are huge in demand in Art galleries and museums. 6. Archaeologist: If you love ancient history, this can be your dream profile. MA in Archeology is most sought after course among History graduates. 7. With increase in production of period movies and TV serials there is demand of people with History background who can do research for costumes, jewelery, background set and culture-customs. You may join production house as Research Assistant. P.S. I will keep adding more to this list. If you want to ask anything you may post in comments.
