Why does Pinterest change displayed address bar when showing pin?
-
If you click on a pin, the in line pop up window appears, but the URL updates to the pin URL via JavaScript. The page address does not actually change. Closing the pop up sets the URL to the previous address without reloading the page. Why would they do this? For share ability of the URL itself? I know some people like to share content still using that method.
-
Answer:
That URL represents the canonical URL to a particular pin. It makes it easy for sharing, and if you happen to hit reload on the page you'll be able to see the pin you were zoomed in on.
