How do you get a signature for your email?

How do you get a logo into an Outlook signature without it looking like every email has an attachment?

  • When I insert an image into my signature, and then send someone an email, when they reply to me, it makes it look like there's an attachment, although neither of us attached anything.  How do you use a logo in a signature without this happening??

  • Answer:

The best solution is to place the logo on a public facing web server and link to it.  That way nothing is attached.

Outlook is correctly adding the image to your signature, but your intended layout may change if the email is read or handled by a different email client or server. That's what is happening when you get your signature image back as a file attachment; the other person's email client or server has extracted the image and decided to attach it as a file instead of rendering it in the correct position in the email. There's nothing you can do about this, other than inviting the people to whom you send email to use the exact same email client/server as you.

You need to host your images using a web server. For those who don't know how to upload images to a web server, you can use http://www.emailsignaturerescue.com - it hosts the images for you and you can create/customize an email signature just by filling in a form with your details. There's a demo video on the website.
