Why are firecrackers not banned in India?

English is also not an Indian language but we use it in everyday life(You wrote this question in English). Hindu texts also say that the first thing you should do when you wake up in the morning is to go and touch feet of  your parents and teachers. Hindu texts also say that: "काक चेष्टा,  बको ध्यानं,स्वान निद्रा तथैव च स्वल्पहारी, गृहत्यागी,विद्यार्थी पंच लक्षणं।" "Kak chesta bako dhyanam!Swan nindra tathaiwa cha swalpahari, grihtyaagi,vidyarthi panch lakshnam." It means "Efforts should be similar to  a crow, (repetitive, if not successful) Concentration that of a crane, Nap (sleep) similar to that of a dog; A student should have these characteristics besides s(he) should eat less and should be away from the sweet home." Do you follow any of these? If not, then why argue about firecrackers in Diwali? 100% women want ban on firecrackers !!! Are you serious? My aunt lights more firecracker than me. And I know a couple of my female friends who enjoy it but I have rarely seen a women who wants a ban on firecrackers. Exactly they must be banned. but a lot of unskilled labourers and their lives depend on the manufacture of these fireworks. this might be the reason why india has not banned fireworks. maybe as we grow in to a better nation with a high standard of living we can afford to ban firecrackers but until then we need to think about the labourers.

Like most of the people here who answered, they are selfish, these selfish people value their selfishness, pleasure over effect of useless fire crackers on environment. Best bet would be to start a petition and get mass publicity. Let stupid people and kids know how terrible these firecrackers are. I know transport vehicles pollute too, u cant give up ur vehicle but you can give up fire crackers. तो पटाखे फोडना बन्द करो
