Does the SYNC have multimedia?

How can I 'reset' Chrome sync on one computer?

  • I run Chrome in Windows and have sync enabled. I also occasionally run Ubuntu, where I have the Chrome browser as well. I haven't used the Ubuntu browser in a very long time, and my bookmarks, extensions and other sync settings have since diverged widely. The Ubuntu browser retains lots of old bookmarks that I'm not keen on sorting through and deleting again. AFAIK, the Windows browser has been synchronizing regularly. Luckily, the sync settings haven't tried to merge, and I disabled sync in the Ubuntu browser. What I would like to do, is 'reset' the browser in Ubuntu (i.e. removing all user data), and then re-enable sync in a way that guarantees that everything from the Windows browser is pulled in, while insuring the removals in Ubuntu don't get pushed to the sync location, thus making both browsers use the Windows data. After this, I can hopefully manage to keep them in sync.

  • Answer:

If you 'stop syncing' on one of your synced computers, delete everything, then reconnect it, those deletes won't be propagated and the data you deleted will come back. You can test this by stopping delete, deleting a bookmark, then starting sync. If you're using a version of Chrome that doesn't have the ability to delete all your data (coming soon), and don't want to do it by hand, then on Ubuntu you can just delete your profile dir, which should beĀ  /home/<user>/.config/google-chrome - deleting this and restarting Chrome should give you a fresh browser you can then sync.
