How do I tweak the mount options to improve the performance of an SSD for an ext4 filesystem?
-
I am testing the SSDs for performance imrovements ant want to test the effects of factors like data=writrback,barriers=0,noatime etc. How to change these parameters?
-
Answer:
Disk performance is most affected by its partition mapping scheme and partition format. For example, a disk formatted as Mac OS X (Extended, Journaled) runs much faster on OS X than an ExFAT disk. Likewise, Windows NT works best on Windows. Consumer OSes usually mount disks automatically (by default), and as I'm not a Linux user, I cannot tell you about mount settings as I have no knowledge about them. But I seriously doubt that changing mount settings affects performance.
