How can I make money with my skills?

How can I use my software skills such that I kiteboard everyday and make money from coding?

• How can I setup my life so that I can kiteboard whenever its windy and be able to support myself via coding (C/C++/Ruby/Python)? Basically looking for ideas on places and job/"situations" which will let me do this.

  You could freelance, either physically/locally or virtually e.g. on http://www.odesk.com and give some discount for being sporadically unavailable. There seems to be a lot of low-price competition for the virtual freelancing though. Alternatively, you could bid for long-term projects where concrete deliverables at certain milestones are the only measurement of success (rather than "days in the chair") and make sure to deliver on time despite your kitesurfing days. This kind of work is probably not very easy to find but as a lifestyle choice you might underbid some of the competition to get projects that fit this description.
