Why have Quora "Views" grown by 66% from September 2012 to October 2012?

Since August, the number of followers I have has almost tripled. I always assumed this was why my View numbers have increased dramatically over the last few months. However, other users may not have had a similar rise in followers, so this may not account for the rise in Views for all Quorans.

It does seem like views are increasing, but it could also be caused by luck of some questions and answers of users going viral during October combined with the normal increase in Quora users. It is also possible that over the first month (and even past that maybe) Quora might have tweaked how views are collected to make them more accurate.  If this is true then the increase in views could just be the views function getting more accurate. It will be interesting to see if the increased views continues to happen next month.

Could the increase in views an individual user gets over time be simply due to the fact that they have created more and more content as time goes on so they have a larger 'back catalogue' of questions and answers with which to garner view stats?  As Quora seems to rank more and more highly in Google, there may be an increasing amount of search traffic landing on their Quora pages? Another factor is how active a user is.  I have been somewhat quiet on Quora the last couple of months, but this month (we are on day 5) I have had as many views as the whole of September simply because I have been more active.

I believe August was a half month. My daily views remained similar between Aug and Sept while the monthly total doubled. Oct was down by a hundred views or so from Sept. Aug 11K Sept 22K Oct 22K November is shaping up to have more views since I gained followers due to the Top Writer promotion.
