How can I get back my money from a seller through PayPal?

I bought an item on eBay and the seller was unresponsive about shipment and status. The part arrived extremely late. Now the seller is not willing to take it back and not answering my mails or calls. What can I do to get my money back?

  • I ordered an engine part worth $2000. Seller did not provide me any shipment details or did not answer my calls or mails for ~20 days. Eventually i received the part 21 days after my order. Due to his unresponsiveness, I ended up buying it elsewhere hoping eBay will help me with refund since it was backed by Moneyback guarantee. When I raised a case with eBay requesting refund citing delay and unresponsiveness, they settled the case in the seller's favor.  What can I do now?

  • Answer:

    Ask the seller if he'll pay for shipping back to him, you'll return the part and not file a negative feedback. If he doesn't agree, then he deserves the negative feedback for lack of communication. He might work that deal, otherwise there's nothing else you can do. I imagine if ebay sided with the seller, then somewhere in the listing he states a possible long shipping window.

You could try to file a claim, but be aware that under eBay's Terms of Service, the seller is not required to accept returns unless the item is "significantly not as described."

Buyers are far better protected by eBay Nad PayPal than Buyers are. Simply open a case (within 45 days of sale) on either channel and you will be supported. Either open an late shipment or Not As Described Case.

First of all, ask the seller maybe you can return it and avoid losing too much. Then go to paypal if you haven't. If nothing works rate negative then sell the item and try to reduce the money loss.
