Where can I learn about computer programming?

Is there a good class in Los Angeles where kids can learn computer programming?

  • My daughter is 12, and after reading the amazing answers at she and I are both ready to pick up and move so we're closer to MIT. Does anyone know of a good program here in Los Angeles? Ideally it would be for kids 11 or 12 and up. I'd rather push her to keep up than have her in a room full of kids younger than herself.

  • Answer:

I don't know of any classes in Los Angeles (though I'm looking forward to seeing them in other responses), but my boys are having a great time learning programming with Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu). It enforces good design patterns in a visual environment and is fun to use even if you have zero previous experience.

There are also a couple of camps cater to girls only.  You can filter by age, location.
