What is the feminist strategy for fighting states that want to limit access to family planning services?

  • I have read that feminist organizations are afraid to push back hard at the state level because they don't want to endanger Roe v Wade at the federal level, given our current conservative Supreme Court. But if they don't fight back at the state level, they risk have state after state tighten access, making Roe v Wade moot. What is or should be the strategy to handle this dilemma?

  • Answer:

Forgive me my ignorance and naivity, but why would any state want to limit access to family planning. Beside the obvious, that it is none of their business, family planning is good business. To create a productive society and tax $$, you want the young and strong women and men to take an education, work, earn enough to buy a house, go to your restaurant and be consumers in any way. It is not in your interest to force them to create a family because of an unintended pregnancy, force them out of their education, living in a trailer instead of a house, no money to spend or pay tax from, home with the kids instead of contributing to the development of the community. It seems funnily unamerican to take the "american dream" away from the citizens like this, so I never got this opposition to family planning...
