Do French universities generally have spring breaks?

I've taken the GRE once and have a score of 303. I wish to join US universities in Spring 2015. Should I give it another attempt or apply with this score? If I apply, what are the possible universities I can get into a Computer Science program?

  • Apart from my GRE score these are my credentials: Microsoft's MTA certifications in Database Fundamentals HTML5 CGPA 7/10 Completed project on Android as a Major Project. Won robotics competition at IIT Indore. Had vocational training in PLC. Had vocational training on Arduino. Please suggest the universities that I should apply to with the given profile.

  • Answer:

It totally depends on which universities you are aiming for. If you want to secure admits from the universities which are ranked within 60 or 70, then I have seen that these universities don't give admits if your score is below 308. And since the competition has increased exponentially since past few years, I would highly recommend you to give another GRE attempt if you desire to study in a "good" universities. I know it would be a pain in the a** (I gave two attempts myself), but if your score increases this time, it would be totally worth it. See, take my word for it, if you decide to go with this score, and you happened to be denied from most of the universities you applied for, then you will feel sorry for yourself for not giving another attempt.  You don't want to study your masters' with a regret, do you? You have nothing to lose here. If you score below 303 this time, you'll be allowed to send only your previous score (303) to the universities. But you will get to have this positive feeling that you at least gave it a try. That being said, keep this in mind that your GRE score is not the only deciding factor to get an admit. It depends on your overall profile; your UG grades, work experience, research experience, projects, recommendation letter, SOP and what not! I have seen students with GRE scores above 320, couldn't  secure a single admit from a decent university, whereas someone with a score around 300 but a very good overall profile getting a chance to study at universities like GaTech and ASU. Therefore, my final suggestion would be to give one more GRE attempt and then work on your university selection. Study harder this time and good luck! :)
