How and when can i apply to American universities?

I am a Class XII Indian Student. What should I do to apply to American universities if I have not a good track record in XI?

• I have been a consistent performer till Class X standing 1st or 2nd in my class. I passed the ICSE examination in 2013 with 95.8%. I also have a good track record in quizzes and have also won some. But the last year, Class XI was not a good one for me. From 1st I came down to 24th in another school. But now I have regained my lost position. I need to know what chances I have of making it to the American Universities and getting the Financial Aid. Also please tell me what I need to do.

  You might have a reason for that, and if it cast an influence on you, you can frame out an admissions essay about what mistakes you made in the first place and realize how you recovered from learning through those. You cannot repair the record but can, of course, make it something considerable down the line. P.S. Avoid making the reason an excuse(or if it is, REVERT). Your achievements and test scores will play an important role too. You cannot really bet on something that could nullify your report card of 11th grade, but what's the harm in trying? Good Luck! :)
