What is the best method or WordPress plugin to configure blog posts into a grid-style layout within a WordPress theme?

  • Concept is like showcasing a portfolio, however, what I’m looking for is specific to the blog posts (featuring, title, featured image, short excerpt, category), flexible & interchangeable in regards to layout format. Below, are 3 sites that will provide the concept I'm looking for. http://motifdemo.wordpress.com/page-templates/grid-page/: This page displays the featured images, titles and excerpts of its child pages, arranged in a grid. http://allusefulideas.com:  Grid layout with 4 columns – 3-column posts (with titles) & 1 right sidebar widget http://al-romance.com: Grid layout with 4 columns – 3-column posts (with categories) & 1 right sidebar widget Overall goal is to find the best method & or a quality WP plugin that can configure Grid Style posts on a page. I'm hoping to find a WP plugin that can provide this type of feature for ANY WP theme. Note: I'm Not looking for a WP theme that can do this. Goal is to be able to have a functional, easily customizable, display of posts in an evenly formatted grid like fashion.

    I have not used such a plugin. Just want to give some thoughts about your preferring plugins to themes. Actually, you should use a theme, rather than a plugin in the most time. Plugins have many drawbacks. Plugins need to be runned, which means the cost of cpu time. If the traffic is high, that lows down the performance of your server dramaticly. You should take that into yoir consideration.

you may try Post Grid plugin to create a grid like "Grid Page" you mentioned, this plugin allows you to create a grid from any post types and control grid items from awesome features named "Grid Builder" so you can hide/display any grid items like #Title, #Content(excerpt) #thumbnails #post date, author and many more .
