What are some jobs that a major in engineering could get into?

What are some NON-engineering jobs in Canada/US that I can get using my engineering skills/mindset?

  • I'm a recent University of Waterloo engineering grad with 2-3 years of software development experience. I want to get out of engineering but still do something analytical and/or quantitative. I value living in the city and earning a high salary. I understand that my next job might not have these things, but at least I want to go in the correct direction.

  • Answer:

You don't provide much direction of what you like to do, so here are some ideas a) Teaching. You can teach science and math in High school; b) Move into the financial sector (trader, financial adviser, etc.) c) Move into marketing or product management - No coding required and your engineering skills make it easier to interact with engineers
