How can I stay on a good healthy diet when my family buys crappy food and can't eat healthy themselves...

I am the only cheerleader in the family and I need to go on a diet... I try eating fruits and vegetables as snacks and dinner with family... but my family doesn't eat the healthiest and when I want to go to the gym or go for a run there's always an excuse... like you need to babysit siblings or someone might steal you... they tell me I need to eat healthier but then they don't have any healthy foods... I'm surprised they don't think I have anorexia and try to get rid of it that way... but it's really effecting my cheer because I can't hold my body weight up to do anything...

Next time your parents go food shopping, go with them and buy some healthy things that you can eat.

Is there anyone in the family you can talk to about how you feel? Maybe they can help you talk to your parents. Try and ask your mom just to buy you a few things that you can eat in place of some other things you'd rather not eat. Tell her you'll help cook and clean up. Also, example: if mom's making fried chicken just ask her if you can broil or boil a piece for yourself. Just do the best you can with the food in the house. If not just take smaller portions of the unhealthy stuff and larger of the healthy for dinner. Lots of protein for muscles. For exercise: until they let you go to a gym, find a exercise channel on TV, or get a DVD and there's lots of different exercises you can do at home using things around the house to exercise with.
