What's the best cat allergy medication?

Does this mean my cat has an allergy to fleas or the medication in the collar? Read details...

  • My cat is leaving all kinds of "dandruff"-like specks everywhere she lays and I'm wondering if this means she has an allergy to the medication or just the fleas. I put the collar on her Friday and will be removing it this Friday but I'm wondering if I should remove it sooner. I can't take her in to the vet today because I have a class until the vet office is closed. If anyone thinks I should make a vet appointment for sure please let me know, I hate putting her through the stress of going there.

  • Answer:

If she's not acting like she's itchy, I'm guessing it's not an allergy and just dry skin. Brushing her with a wire slicker brush will probably help, and she'll probably be glad to have a lot of those skin flakes gone. Cats often don't drink enough water. You could try giving her a supplement to improve skin condition; check at your pet supply store.
