How do I properly bread my corn dog?

Can I substitute only creamed corn instead of the whole kernel corn in a corn pudding recipe with Jiffy corn bread mix?

  • I would like to make the Corn Pudding recipe that uses Jiffy cornbread mix, but I only like the creamed corn. Is that going to work?

  • Answer:

Adjust the liquid, because of the cream corn.

I always used to make it with cream corn and sour cream.

I don't see why not. It will wind up runnier do to liquid content, so you may have to adjust for that.

Use whole kernel in the pudding recipe. The whole kernel corn will become mushy while it is cooked. There are whole kernels in creamed corn as well. They just partially mash them and add a sauce to the can. You will not be able to taste a difference when you make a pudding. If you use creamed corn, adjust the liquid in the recipe by 1/4 to 1/2 cup less.

Creamed corn will add a lot more moisture so you may want to reduce milk or other liquids. And therell be a lot less actual corn in the muffins. Cream corn is more 'cream' than it is corn usually.
