Can your receive financial aid for college more then once?

How am I suppose to choose a college if I'm not sure how much I will receive in financial aid? Like I have no mony so I can only choose if..

  • I HAVE FINANCIAL AID TO PAY FOR SCHOOL. financial aid is the only way i can attend but I don't understand how I am to apply and do all that without knowing if i can pay for the class??...HELP!!

  • Answer:

All college recruiters and school counselors will tell you to never let money decide which college you attend. And while I just wrote that, I don't necessarily believe it. Start by making a list of colleges that specialize in the major you want. Then sort by cost. Choose a good half dozen you are then interested in and apply. If accepted, you can then have a sit-down with their finance department and work out the details of payment. But notice that money comes towards the end of the process and not at the beginning.

First off, financial aid is not the only way you can attend. Many people use financial for part of their tuition, but work while in school to pay for everything else. I have a niece now that receives no financial aid and works full time while going to school. Some semesters she carries a full load some she doesn't. She is taking a little longer to graduate, but she will be graduating debt free.

Unless you are one of the small percentage of people who get full ride scholarship, you are likely to have to pay some on your own. Meaning you'd have to work, at least part time.
